The Trickster’s Comeback in the Popularity Poll

After the doubles match where he used Phantom one “last time,” Niou decided to leave without saying goodbye and travel the world. Due to circumstances beyond his control, his world tour turned into a tour of another world. He got a Popularity System. The events he experienced became a serialized manga, and he had to become a popular character in several popularity polls and earn enough popularity points to return to his original world. After confirming that the popularity of the characters he impersonated as Phantom also counted toward his total, Niou pretended he’d never said “last time I use Phantom.” A trickster’s words are hard to tell apart from the truth anyway, aren’t they? But it seemed his performances had a few problems. Niou: Mad, with a tragic past, gorgeous, strong, and miserable. A fashionable character like this is sure to win the popularity poll! System: Sorry, Host, but this character has such an ominous aura. In a manga where justice is destined to triumph over evil… Niou: Upright, serious, and an agent of justice. Will that work? System: Host, the protagonist of this manga is a company with strong local ties, so… After several failed attempts to win by doing the opposite, Niou decided to give up. But when he revealed his true nature as a trickster, the popularity of the character based on him started climbing rapidly. System: So it seems that the Host himself is the most charming of all. Niou: …Shut up, you! * A typical setup combining a forum, manga readers, popularity polls, and secret identities, with a slight everyone-loves-him vibe. Niou is a Gary Stu. Note from December 16, 2022. Expected to enter VIP serialization on June 14, around chapter 25. I wrote the Bungou Stray Dogs, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Hunter stories while working on my thesis. I’ll revise them over the summer. I haven’t finished reading the original works, so there are a lot of plot holes… Theme: Staying true to yourself is the foundation of success.
