[Genshin Impact] Scaramouche, Get Your Foot on My Face Already!!!

Ahem, I'll change the title once I start posting, to something more normal.

After trying to erase his own existence with the help of the Irminsul, only to fail, the Wanderer remained like a rootless duckweed, drifting across the silent waters of Sumeru and roaming freely wherever the wind took him.

With feelings he couldn't put into words, he accepted the name the Traveler gave him. He had plenty of complaints about keeping his old title, and he loathed the surname even more, but a name was the world's first gift. Even though he wasn't entirely happy with it, Raiden Kunikuzushi held his nose and accepted this precious present from the Traveler.

He thought this would probably be one of their few encounters. But as he turned to leave the Sanctuary of Surasthana, the Traveler suddenly came running after him, panting, and grabbed the ribbon on the back of his hat.

Raiden Kunikuzushi: "..."

"You'd better have something important to ask of me." Raiden Kunikuzushi's expression darkened. "Otherwise, you'd better explain this rude behavior."

"I do have something important to ask."

The Traveler caught his breath, then went even further and put a hand on his shoulder. Golden eyes shone with an intense light.

"Walking alone is wandering. Traveling with someone is a journey. I know this request might seem out of the blue, but I hope you'll join me on my travels. Ahem, my Serenitea Pot is pretty spacious."

Content warnings:

1. The pairing is Aether x Scaramouche, with no side couples.

2. The story is mainly from Scaramouche's perspective, so he'll insult everyone equally, except Nahida and Kazuha.

3. The author knows Scaramouche was named Kunikuzushi, not Raiden Kunikuzushi, but has decided he can be renamed Raiden Kunikuzushi.

4. Aether is Aether under normal circumstances. When the author can't help going crazy, he's "Aether the Great." Aether is the regular Traveler, but Aether the Great... just look at the title.

5. Other characters might have crushes on him.

6. Readers who strongly dislike jokes such as "Raiden's eldest son," "the Raiden Shogun is his real mom and Yae is his aunt," "Nahida is his stepmother," "a cannon piloting a Gundam," or "Anemo characters are bad luck for their friends" (among others) should proceed with caution.

7. For the timeline, see the blurb. Scaramouche's past deeds are all still there; there will be no forced redemption. Readers who can't accept that should proceed with caution.
