Doing One's Duty

Shi Ni is Huo Jing's girlfriend, though at first Huo Jing was simply her benefactor.

Later, Huo Jing fell for her, and the two of them loved each other deeply.

They were very happy.

But one day, Huo Jing got into a car accident, and her memories went back three years, to when she had first taken Shi Ni in as her kept woman.

Huo Jing refused to believe she could fall in love with the woman she kept. She couldn't believe she would make such a poor benefactor.

She spoke to Shi Ni flippantly: "If you still want to stay by my side, keep being my lover. If you don't... then I don't want you either."

The huge change in their relationship left Shi Ni heartbroken, but she still chose to stay by Huo Jing's side and care for her as best she could, hoping she'd recover her memories and remember their past.

But things didn't go as she hoped. Huo Jing soon brought home another young, beautiful woman and flirted shamelessly with her right in front of Shi Ni.

As they flirted, Huo Jing glanced at Shi Ni with contempt, saw her pale face, and mocked her: "A canary should know its place."
