Saving My Lover, Who Keeps Dying

The boy next door, whom I had a crush on, died.

I asked many people, but no one knew the cause of his death.

His funeral was held in the village. With trembling hands, I offered incense before the statue and made a wish, hoping he would come back to life.

*

I don't know whether my wish came true.

A year after attending his funeral, I returned to the summer when I first met him.

Then, in the first month after we met, someone stabbed him to death right in front of me.

When I woke the next day, I was back on the day before he was stabbed to death.

After that came car accidents, shootings, drownings, gas poisoning...

A thousand different ways to die were conspiring against me.

*

A voice inside me kept saying that if I could keep him alive until the day of his funeral, I could bring him back to the present, alive.

I have to bring him back.

No one can stop me.

Not told in first person. Both leads are devoted only to each other, and each has only ever been in love with the other.

Happy ending.
