I Went Viral on a Supernatural Variety Show by Eating

Ruan Yu woke up one morning to find himself a pauper with nothing but his face. He couldn't eat his fill or sleep well, and driven half-mad by hunger, he was forced to join a livestream travel variety show. He'd planned to coast through it, mooching food and doing as little as possible. Who knew a perfectly ordinary travel show would suddenly turn supernatural? Ghostly shadows filled the darkness. The guests shrieked and fled, but the pretty good-for-nothing, who only knew how to eat and sleep, stood frozen in place like an idiot. Everyone squeezed their eyes shut, unable to bear watching. Then the microphone clipped to Ruan Yu's collar clearly picked up a gulp. Ruan Yu stared at the food packed into the darkness, his eyes shining. Food... so much food! The next second, the pretty good-for-nothing let out a howl and bit down on the vicious ghost's forehead. The ghosts: ? The guests: ?? The viewers: ??? -- At first, Ruan Yu: "Do they cover food and lodging?" Director: "Of course." Haters: "Hah, what a country bumpkin." Later, the director: "Don't you fucking bite the camera!" Haters: "Let him eat!!!" -- Much later, Ruan Yu's diary from before he became famous was revealed. [Month X, Day X. In the car. Sunny.] My job covering food and lodging has begun. That mortal has so much yang energy. I like him. [Five minutes later] I snuck a bite. Sweet. I'm eighty percent full. He's amazing =ω= Gong: "You really don't remember me?" -- Silly, gluttonous divine beast shou x devoted, cold beauty gong [Thanks to the artist Tang Jiuxi for drawing the character designs!] Theme: Work hard, eat well, and enjoy life.
