"Captain Jin, drug cases belong to Narcotics, and dead bodies belong to Homicide."

"Then explain the white powder on his clothes."

"Explain? I don't owe you an explanation."

The Quhai City Public Security Bureau has a pair of notorious rivals:

Xing Zhou, captain of Homicide, who leaves nothing to chance within the rules,

and Jin Cheng, captain of Narcotics, who puts brotherhood above everything.

Everyone at the bureau knows they can't stand each other, and spends every day gossiping about them:

Then an explosion changed everything.

When Xing Zhou rushed into the fire, Jin Cheng was pinned down by a steel beam.

"You here to collect my body?"

"I'm here to hear your last words."

As Xing Zhou carried Jin Cheng out of the explosion site, Jin Cheng asked from his back, "Back then, you stole the love letter I wrote to the campus belle, didn't you?"

Xing Zhou took two steps, then stopped and said, "I just couldn't stand seeing someone write 'encounter' as 'afterglow.'"

After they returned from the explosion site, something subtle finally shifted between them. Jin Cheng invited Xing Zhou to dinner. They kept raising their glasses, neither willing to lose, and ended up getting drunk and somehow sharing a bed.

When Jin Cheng woke up, his legs felt sore and weak. Remembering what happened the night before, he decided to pretend he had blacked out and act as though nothing had happened.

Xing Zhou woke to the mess of a bed and a burning pain across his back, with no memory at all of what had happened the night before.

At the team meeting the next day, Xing Zhou commented on Jin Cheng's proposal: "Captain Jin's proposal is really solid..."

Then he turned and saw Jin Cheng glaring at him as if he wanted to kill him.

Xing Zhou: ???

During a joint operation, Jin Cheng heard a teammate shout, "Captain Xing, you're so fast!"

Xing Zhou turned around and saw a gun aimed at him.

Xing Zhou: !!!

Later, they ran into each other at a counseling center, but pretended not to know one another.

Therapist: "How can I help you?"

Jin Cheng: "Someone wants to sleep with me."

Xing Zhou: "Someone wants to kill me."

Therapist: ...
