Heartbeat

Li Weixi, the top sharpshooter at the police academy, was assigned to the Economic Crime Investigation Brigade after graduation. One day, she borrowed a motorcycle from the traffic police station next door and slipped out for a ride.

In a sparsely populated area on the outskirts of the city, Li Weixi spotted a woman standing at an intersection in the distance, repeatedly making phone calls.

Li Weixi: "Is your car broken down?"

The woman nodded gently. "I'm waiting for the towing company."

That evening, the criminal investigation squad received a report from an auto repair shop. A woman's body had been found in a trunk. When the police tracked down the car's owner and asked about her whereabouts that day, the only person who could vouch for her was Li Weixi, the new intern at the Economic Crime Investigation Department next door.

A major illegal fundraising case was solved in the city. An Ran, one of the suspects, was ultimately acquitted. When a hotel owned by an S.T. Group director became the scene of a murder, An Ran was once again named as a suspect, but was released because of her perfect alibi.

Li Weixi: "Why do I keep seeing you at crime scenes?"

An Ran: "Must be a coincidence! If I ever break the law, will you come arrest me yourself?"

Li Weixi: "Of course."
