Konoha Is a Field of Chives

The First Hokage said that Konoha was like a plant, with lush, flourishing leaves aboveground and roots buried deep beneath the earth. Tobirama was beginning to think Konoha might be a radish or a potato, since his teammates had nearly dug through everything underground. It was like the enormous tuber of some perennial herb. Danzo: “I only did it because I was trying to save you. That made me smack my chin so hard it looks like a shiitake mushroom in a sukiyaki pot. I can’t show my face!” Teammates: “Is that why you haven’t left the house in three months? If you said you were allergic to ultraviolet light, we might believe you more.” >>> Everyone might think Danzo is a gloomy, strange shut-in, but in fact, every night he wakes up in another world that is haunted in the literal sense. Staying cooped up at home is less alarming than being unconscious all the time. >>> With all the bizarre knowledge he picked up in another world and his powerful will to survive, he managed to hang on until the end of the war, even though nearly all the people of his generation had died in battle. The world was still awful, but it somehow seemed a little better than he’d expected. “Ah, it’s time to leave everything to the young people.” At least his old friends were all still alive, hale and hearty as retired old men and women.
