[Natsume's Book of Friends] A Twilight Promise

Sunsets are always unsettling,

whether splendid or bleak,

but even more unsettling

is that final, desperate glimmer...

"The chain of fate begins with restraint and ends with a promise..."

A few things to know before reading:

① The blurb is excerpted from Borges's "The Ashes of the Red Herring." Its deeper meaning probably has little to do with this story, so let's take it at face value [Hey!]

② This is sort of a collaborative story with A Yan, though I don't know when she'll get around to writing hers. For now, the only information I can share is that she's writing Natsume~

③ It's been a long time since I wrote anything, so I'm rusty. This is a passion project while I'm still getting back into the swing of things, and I haven't done any serious research. If you think Matoba is out of character or some details don't match the original, please ignore it [No, wait!]

④ I started writing in September and kept putting it off until now. I didn't expect it to coincide with the November 1 birthday, so let's call it a birthday gift, haha. Happy birthday, Lord Matoba~~~ [What the hell...]
