The One Who Watched the Seasons Pass for You

When Lu Zhiheng receives his diagnosis, he and Su Wan have already promised to spend all four seasons of the year together. Spring cherry blossoms, summer night breezes, autumn leaves on the mountains, tea by the winter stove: they have so many small, tender hopes for the days ahead.

Illness cuts short his path to the future. Afraid to tell the tenderhearted Su Wan, he secretly records audio messages for an entire year and entrusts his childhood friend Jiang Yi to send them to her on schedule.

Su Wan thinks he has gone away to study and is busy. Guided by one gentle voice message after another, she slowly passes through spring, summer, and autumn. The voice reminds her to dress warmly, shares the evening glow on the horizon, and remembers all her little preferences.

With his voice keeping her company, she devotes herself to painting and living well, gradually growing into someone more at ease with herself.

Then, when snow falls at the end of the year, she unexpectedly finds the medical records and original recordings hidden away, and finally understands the quiet farewell behind all that tenderness.

He couldn't be there to watch the seasons with her, so he made arrangements in advance for someone to keep her company through all four seasons in his place.

Their love is quiet and enduring, without anguished cries, only the tender, wistful regret of time slowly settling, and the grace of letting go.

Theme: Love isn't about insisting on staying together. Before saying goodbye, it's about paving a path for you to keep moving forward, little by little.
