The Cherry Blossom Postman Doesn't Deliver to the Afterlife

A secluded mountain shrine has, for generations, passed down the role of messenger of remembrance. A boy with spirit sight can see souls lingering in the human world. He delivers letters written by the living to the dead, carrying their love and longing across the boundary of life and death. The shrine has an ironclad rule: its messenger must never fall for a client. If he does, his spirit sight will gradually fade, and he will never see souls again, losing his calling as the ferryman of remembrance.

The year the cherry blossoms bloom in their full glory, a girl climbs the mountain each week to send a letter. Every one is addressed to her lover, who has already died. She calmly tells him about the small things in her life, entrusting the boy messenger with one letter after another, each carrying thoughts she never got to express. He dutifully delivers them in silence, but as their meetings continue day after day beneath showers of cherry blossoms, he can't stop himself from falling for her.

He knows the price of breaking the taboo, and he knows the girl's heart still belongs to the love she lost. The boundary between life and death, the shrine's rules, and an old love she cannot let go of: his spirit sight is fading bit by bit. He was supposed to deliver messages of longing, not letters to the next life, yet he falls into a fateful bond filled with longing and restraint. This is a supernatural tale set at a shrine, about regret, obsession, life and death, and a heart beginning to stir. Told slowly from two perspectives, it depicts a love that cannot cross the line and a tender, painful longing that cannot find fulfillment, even across the boundary of life and death.
