A certain Xinghe was bad at everything and had a mouth to match. While hiking up a mountain to try his hand at digging for wild vegetables, he casually picked a handful of mushrooms that looked delicious and took them home to stew.
After downing a pot of mixed mushroom soup, a certain Xinghe’s vision spun. He happily turned into a tiny little bird and fluttered away. When he came to again, he realized he might have landed in the wrong place.
Ornate pavilions stood in the distance, and servants surrounded him nearby. A certain Xinghe hugged himself, small, pitiful, and helpless.
Somehow, he had flown into the estate of a wealthy family in ancient times.
At least he hadn’t been mistaken for a thief and beaten to death.
From a few snippets of conversation, a certain Xinghe figured out that he had transmigrated into a wuxia novel he’d once read and dropped. Apparently, the plot took all kinds of wild turns later on, and the villain was vicious, especially fond of gouging out people’s hearts and eyes. With his little heart trembling, a certain Xinghe reassured himself that it was fine. He would stay far away from the jianghu’s troubles.
Then he found out that the only reason he hadn’t been beaten to death was that he had transmigrated into the mad young master of the wealthy household, who had the same name as him.
Early in the novel, the author had the villain wipe out the entire family on a whim to show how vicious he was. The young master had offended the villain and had his heart and eyes gouged out.
A certain Xinghe: …
That scene had been so gruesome it was the reason he’d dropped the novel!
A certain Xinghe worked himself into a panic, then finally snapped. He packed a little bundle and ran off. He was going to cling to the protagonist and use his protagonist’s halo to save his own life and the lives of his bargain-bin family!
Compared to having his heart and eyes gouged out, what was a little wandering through the jianghu? Follow the protagonist and you’ll never go hungry, yaaaah!
With that unshakable resolve, a certain Xinghe followed the protagonist like a shadow. When the protagonist went east, he didn’t go west; when the protagonist climbed a mountain, he didn’t cross a river. He acted as a minesweeper, clearing out every sign of a villainous plot the protagonist encountered on the road. At last, he managed to achieve half his goal.
He became the piece of meat on the protagonist’s plate.
A certain Xinghe twisted his fingertips and looked up with innocent eyes. “B-b-b-big brother, if I tell you I’m crazy, will you let me off?”
The protagonist gently placed the ghost mask that marked him as a boss over a certain Xinghe’s face and kissed its jagged fangs.
“Too late,” he said. “Don’t think about leaving me.”
…
A certain Xinghe: Ever since I got a mental illness, I’ve been feeling more alive than ever!
A certain protagonist: You look like you’ve gone completely off the rails and started channeling a god :)
[Reading Tips]
A goofy, fun adventure through the jianghu, where the protagonist tries to reform a villainous lead through sheer silliness (?).
A two-faced protagonist top × a silly, innocent but not sweet bottom. The top loves stirring up trouble, and the bottom is great at getting under his skin.
Theme: The jianghu isn’t just fighting and killing. Sometimes you need silliness to clear the way.
