After awakening, Chen Qingfei discovers that he is the protagonist bottom in an old-school, melodramatic noncon novel. In college, he met the protagonist top, Shen Bojun, by chance while working a part-time job.
Shen Bojun is a nasty, powerful, filthy rich bastard with twisted tastes.
In the original novel, he gradually becomes interested in Chen Qingfei, who works part-time, and pursues him passionately. When Chen Qingfei turns him down, Shen Bojun simply takes him by force, kicking off a three-hundred-chapter angsty romance of running away and chasing after him. It ends with a happily ever after.
Thankfully, when Chen Qingfei learns the original plot, the two have yet to meet.
At this point, Shen Bojun is the all-powerful heir to Rongcheng’s most influential family, while Chen Qingfei is just a poor student working part-time.
Chen Qingfei decides to steer clear of Shen Bojun, avoiding every situation where they might meet and making sure he never gives the other man a chance to fall for him.
At an art exhibition, Chen Qingfei gives a colleague the chance to serve Shen Bojun, personally preventing their first encounter.
At an auction, he hears Shen Bojun is coming and immediately hides behind a vase before hurrying away.
In a parking lot, he sits in the driver’s seat and watches Shen Bojun finish an entire cigarette through the tinted window, without opening the door.
When their cruise ship comes under attack, he secretly alerts Shen Bojun but doesn’t go to him to claim credit or ask for a reward.
Thanks to Chen Qingfei’s deliberate avoidance, the two, who were already worlds apart, become like parallel lines, never intersecting at all. They end up as complete strangers who have never met.
2.
Shen Bojun’s life has always gone smoothly. Born into an elite family, he inherited the family business at a young age and became the unquestioned ruler of Rongcheng.
He often wonders if he’s the protagonist of a novel, and whether it’s one of those wish-fulfillment novels aimed at male readers.
Then he realizes that all sorts of inexplicable people have started orbiting him.
There’s a reborn person whose family went bankrupt in her previous life and who has set her sights on Shen Bojun in this one. She’s determined to marry him and claims to have grown up with him.
There’s a transmigrator who read the original novel, thinks the protagonist bottom was a fool for turning Shen Bojun down and that she would have simply lain flat and enjoyed it, and, after unexpectedly transmigrating into the story, wants to steal the protagonist top away.
And there’s a quick-transmigration schemer who has crossed over with a System. Her goal is to win over the protagonist top and bottom, make them turn against each other and fight over her, then seize the world’s fortune.
From these people, Shen Bojun learns that he really is a novel’s protagonist, but not the hero of a wish-fulfillment novel for male readers. He’s the protagonist top in a melodramatic noncon novel.
He was even supposed to have a destined partner. They should have met five years ago, fallen in love while fighting each other, and remained entangled for the rest of their lives.
But in reality, Shen Bojun has never even met this person.
3.
Shen Bojun is curious about his destined partner. When he investigates, he’s surprised to discover that the other man appeared in his life long ago, but has been deliberately avoiding him.
At the art exhibition, the man hurried away, and Shen Bojun only caught sight of a tall, slender figure.
At the auction, he spotted a shadow overlapping with the shadow of a vase from the corner of his eye. He strode over, only to find no one there.
In the parking lot, he knocked on the car window. Even after the time it took to smoke a cigarette, no one got out.
When the cruise ship came under attack, he received an anonymous warning in advance, but the other man didn’t seize the opportunity to take credit, ask for a reward, or make a connection with him.
He watches over Shen Bojun and protects him, yet hides from him and keeps his distance, never showing his face.
Shen Bojun grows more and more curious about Chen Qingfei. His mean streak gets the better of him, and he deliberately appears in front of the other man, making sure his presence is constantly felt.
Later, Chen Qingfei gets tired of playing their little game of cat and mouse and asks Shen Bojun what he wants from him.
Shen Bojun smiles.
He wants to set things right, return the plot to its starting point, and make Chen Qingfei spend the rest of his life with him, just like in the book.
P.S. Several side characters are reborn, transmigrate into the book, or are schemers.
The schemers come with a System. The protagonist top and bottom have no Systems.

Coming soon: My Cheap Older Brother Is the Emperor
[Sweet-talking charmer bottom who’s a master at winning people over x emotionally detached, domineering emperor top]
Jiang Que is reborn as a little child in ancient times, just as the dynasty is collapsing and warlords are carving up the land. To escape the fighting, he moves with his adoptive mother to Taohua Village, where they live a quiet, self-sufficient life.
Growing up lively and mischievous, Jiang Que becomes a notorious little menace in the surrounding villages.
Later, a new dynasty is established and peace returns to the land. Many people set out to search for their families.
One day, his adoptive mother’s biological son comes to Taohua Village looking for her. Jiang Que rushes home, only to crash straight into a broad, powerful chest, stars flashing in his eyes.
He angrily looks up to see who’s so blind as to block the path of Taohua Village’s little tyrant, only to meet a pair of deep, imposing eyes.
The man is Jiang Ying, his adoptive mother’s biological son and his older brother in name only.
And just like that, Jiang Que acquires a cheap older brother.
They say his brother is a general who fought alongside the founding emperor to conquer the realm, and will soon be made a marquis or chief minister. He’s come to take them to the capital to enjoy a life of comfort.
When Jiang Que learns he’ll have to depend on this formidable older brother for a living, he doesn’t even have time to groan before switching straight into people-pleasing mode.
His brother is cold toward him?
No problem. Jiang Que is good-looking, sweet-talking, and great at keeping his elders happy. There’s no one in the world he can’t win over, so...
When his brother drinks tea, Jiang Que refills his cup.
When his brother practices martial arts, Jiang Que wipes his sweat.
When his brother goes to bed, Jiang Que warms it for him.
Calling him “Brother” every other breath, Jiang Que peppers him with one sweet, eager compliment after another. His brother gradually melts toward him, and the two grow closer and closer.
And in the end, Jiang Que successfully turns his brother gay.
Jiang Que: “Ah... no, no, that’s not right...”
Jiang Que: “Ah... yes, yes, that’s right...”

Jiang Ying is born emotionally detached and feels no attachment to either love or family. Even after unifying the realm, he spares no expense searching for the mother he lost during the war, but he’s only fulfilling his duty as a son.
When he learns that his mother is living in a small mountain village, Jiang Ying decides to bring her back to the capital himself.
Instead, he discovers that during the years she suffered from amnesia, she adopted a son, giving him a cheap little brother.
His cheap little brother is handsome, sweet-tongued, obedient, and sensible. His attempts to win Jiang Ying over are clumsy but adorable.
He pretends to be hardworking while pouring tea and fetching water.
He comes running over to wipe Jiang Ying’s sweat while he practices martial arts.
And when they sleep, he wraps himself around Jiang Ying like an octopus, still calling him “Brother” in his dreams.
How could anyone not dote on a little brother like that? Gradually, the look Jiang Ying gives him begins to change.
Before they set out for the capital, their mother takes Jiang Ying’s hand and makes him promise to protect his little brother, treat Jiang Que like his own, and never let anyone bully him.
Looking at his sweet, pampered little brother in the courtyard, Jiang Ying can only think that he’s going to disappoint their mother.
He will never treat Jiang Que like his biological little brother.
*
Before Jiang Que leaves for the capital, his friend gives him earnest advice. The new dynasty has only just been established, and the capital is full of newly elevated nobles. Throw a brick, and you’re bound to hit either a marquis’s son or a general’s grandson.
He tells Jiang Que to rein in his troublemaking ways and stop offending people, or even his brother, the great general, might not be able to protect him.
Jiang Que takes the advice to heart. But only after his brother brings him to the capital does he discover that his cheap older brother is none other than the founding emperor who unified the realm.
Jiang Que: !!
My brother is the emperor, and my mother is the empress dowager. I may not be her biological son, but I’m practically a prince, right? What do I have to worry about!
So when Jiang Que arrives in the capital, he doesn’t rein himself in at all. He continues throwing his weight around, going from the top troublemaker in Taohua Village to the little tyrant of the capital, and gets all the young nobles thoroughly under his thumb.
Everyone is furious but dares not speak up. What can they do? The guy was born lucky, with an emperor for an older brother who always takes his side.
P.S. They’re not blood-related, despite the pseudo-incest setup. The top and bottom’s names may change, but they’ll definitely share a surname.
Theme: May everyone find the happiness that belongs to them.
