[The Great Gatsby Fanfiction] Gatsby's White Moonlight

/I Slept with Gatsby and Ran Off, but He Waited Sixteen Years for Me

What is it like to transmigrate into the world of The Great Gatsby?

Emily: Thanks for asking. Just got off the ox cart, and I'm in North Dakota. He's handsome but dumb. We've already slept together, and I'm getting ready to run.

At ten, she recognized the pretty boy next door as the future Gatsby and thought, He's a tragic hero anyway. Might as well sleep with him.

At sixteen, she got what she wanted. For a whole year, they slept together everywhere: in the barn, in the wheat fields, by the river, in the haystacks.

At seventeen, he left. She stood at the door and waved goodbye, thinking only one thing: Worth it.

Then she got married, lived her own life, and forgot all about him.

Twelve years later, he came back in uniform.

She was married.

He looked at her husband as if he wanted to devour him.

"You don't have to love me," he said, each word deliberate. "But you can't stop me from loving you."

Emily: ???

[The Male Lead]

At ten years old, James Gatz first met Emily Brown at a church picnic.

She sat in the shade of a tree, holding a glass of lemonade, lazily watching the boys running around like mad. The way she looked at him was different from the way everyone else did. It wasn't pity or disdain. It was something he couldn't understand.

Only later did he learn what that look meant: She wanted him for his face.

At sixteen, she coaxed him into the barn. He was hers for that whole year. He thought she would wait for him, but she stood at the door without even looking back.

He waited twelve years. When he returned, she was married.
