All the Best in the Year of the Snake

A shy, introverted security guard bottom x a calm, dependable, handsome police officer top

Chi Ruyi is a quiet shadow in a museum, spending his days with security cameras and display cases. His social anxiety has taught him to stay on the fringes of the crowd. Wu Shao is the shining star of the technical investigation squad, calm and reliable, someone everyone can count on.

A bizarre jewelry theft brings their parallel lives crashing together. Wu Shao discovers that behind the timid eyes of this soft-spoken young man who always keeps his head down lies an astonishing gift for noticing details.

As they follow the clues and the truth comes to light, the case is closed, but Wu Shao's heart seems to have lost its way. He starts taking detours to the museum, claiming he wants a cup of hot tea when what he really wants is to check that the blush-prone security guard is doing all right.

He discovers that Chi Ruyi leaves a window open for stray cats on rainy nights, carefully repairs damaged books with old newspapers, and remembers every colleague's coffee order... These small acts of kindness flow gently into Wu Shao's heart, thawing it after the cases had frozen it over.

At the same time, with Wu Shao's quiet protection and encouragement, Chi Ruyi slowly begins to step out of his hard amber shell and, for the first time, bravely reach out to the world.

From the quiet galleries of the museum to the shadowy corridors of the archives, from thrilling arrests to the cozy warmth of everyday life, their hearts draw closer. They heal each other and help each other grow.

This is a story about how love can make the timid brave and the strong gentle. It's also about two lonely souls who find better versions of themselves in each other's eyes, and ultimately become irreplaceable, warm stars in each other's universe.
