When a Knight Gazes at a Puppet

A mentally ill puppet master receiving, paired with a psychologist gong who has knight's syndrome

--

A puppet master who can see every puppet string's path, yet cannot find the thread to his own fate.

A knight suffering from a chronic illness, wearing a white coat and determined to save every broken soul.

Shang Yan, a puppet master prodigy trapped in a psychiatric hospital. A great fire took his mentor and burned away the threads connecting him to the world. He uses strings to perform the joys and sorrows of all humanity, yet lives inside a nightmare he cannot wake from.

Cen Yuan is a psychologist renowned in his field. No one knows that he suffers from "knight's syndrome," a chronic condition that makes him unable to ignore a plea for help from someone in need. When he takes Shang Yan on as a patient, he believes it is simply an act of noble salvation.

A treatment in which each man gets what he needs begins:

He performs "recovery" for him in exchange for a moment's peace.

He offers him "shelter" to satisfy his addiction to saving others.

In that moment, the doctor becomes the patient under observation, and the savior becomes the one being dissected.

When the knight begins watching his puppet, he sees not a defective thing in need of repair, but a dangerous soul that reflects all his own flaws and desires.

And when the puppet turns its gaze upon the knight, he sees not an all-powerful savior, but a fellow patient, even more stubborn and just as afflicted as he is.

When the shadows of the past return, bringing buried truths with them, they must face a choice together:

Will they keep playing it safe as doctor and patient, or cut the strings and admit that this mutual gaze has already become an irrevocable love?

When the knight gazes at the puppet, he sees not a marionette on strings, but the one and only key capable of freeing him from his shackles.
