Mexican wildcat x German-American mixed-blood madman
College girl x oil tycoon
Lia Flores x Raphael Rivero
[Possessive Love / Dancing on the Edge of a Blade / Survival Against All Odds / Face-Slapping / She Can't Stand Him at First, Then Finds Him a Little Thrilling / Soapy, Cathartic Drama / Fake Male Homewrecker]

Raphael Rivero, son of an American oil tycoon.
One of his life principles: Anyone who dares to deceive him will pay twice over.
And Jose Flores really did die.
He sold Raphael a depleted oil field, then died in a gang shootout before Raphael's men could bring him to justice.
The money he'd swindled from Raphael vanished along with him.
After the gang shootout, the land was scorched until even the dirt turned the color of oil.
As the chaos subsided, a pair of leather shoes stepped across the charred, acrid ground and stopped in front of a black-haired girl, covered in dust.
Raphael Rivero looked down at her.
She had survived the shootout and was trembling, as if she had just escaped death.
Thank God.
The swindler had left his daughter behind.
A father's debt, paid by his daughter.
Debts have owners, and grievances have their source.
His pride remained intact.
A happy ending for everyone.

Lia's only thought from beginning to end was: How could she repay the astronomical debt her father had left behind?
Maybe when you're at the end of your rope, you stop turning down all kinds of outrageous options.
So she boldly tried to make the man claiming to be her creditor take pity on her. If he could fall in love with her, maybe she'd have to pay back a little less.
But Raphael Rivero was an elegant, arrogant, foul-mouthed bastard, practically a demon!
He looked down on everyone.
Especially her.

After emailing the executive director's office at Fodi Oil to say she planned to return to Mexico, find a proper job, and keep paying back the money, Lia got into the Jeep that would take her home.
Ten hours later, the gusts from a helicopter's rotors nearly tore apart the ramshackle motel in the Mojave Desert.
A tall man's figure gradually appeared through the blowing sand.
It was Raphael Rivero.
He pointed a gun at her and ordered her to get off the Jeep belonging to another man.
He wasn't another man, Lia wanted to say.
He was her husband. They had just gotten married in Las Vegas.
Even if their officiant had been a cat.

[Then break his heart.]
[If you're brave enough, dance with the devil.]
Content Warnings:
1) Eight-year age gap / both are non-virgins (meaning neither character is a virgin).
The main romance is 1v1. The heroine has a boyfriend early on, and the hero only has the heroine.
2) The characters are all foreigners, and the writing has a dubbed-TV feel. Imagine it as an American TV series. The plot is melodramatic and completely foreign in its sensibilities, bluntly so. It's intense; if you can't handle heavy content, proceed with caution.
If you came across this story but don't like melodrama, check out my other story, "Abu!" A super-pure, first-love sweet romance about a college girl and an Asian elephant conservationist from the Yi ethnic group!
And my other story, "He Went to Buy Me Fries," a painter x race car driver story about mutual pining and a bittersweet push-and-pull. I'm gathering favorites for it now! 🔥
