Reborn in 1985: A Hunter’s Revenge in the Xing’an Mountains

A hunting knife awakens on a snowy night, and the reborn hunter takes on the Cang Mountains.

In the last month of 1985, Zhou Xing, a sixty-year-old widower and hunter, froze to death in a ramshackle hut in the Greater Khingan Range. When he opened his eyes again, he was nineteen, back on the night he was tricked by the Lin family into marrying into their household.

In his previous life, he was the laughingstock of the whole village:

He married Lin Taohua, a cheating wife carrying another man's child, and supported his two brothers-in-law and their families of seven. He handed every last coin from his hunting over to his in-laws, yet let his grandmother, who had raised him, starve to death. He repaid childhood friend Mu Aiping's life-saving kindness with ingratitude, and finally died alone and drunk on the night of his sixtieth birthday.

In this life, his hunting knife is reforged, and old vengeance stirs in his bones.

On his wedding night, he rips off the fake wedding veil. A check at the clinic confirms the pregnancy. An anonymous letter goes straight to the county revolutionary committee. In the forest, he beats his brothers-in-law while masked. The day he gets his divorce papers, he shoulders his hunting knife and heads back into the snowy mountains

“This time, my hunting ground is the entire Greater Khingan Range.”

From setting snares for rabbits and fishing through the ice to hunting bears alone and tracking tigers;

From selling a squirrel pelt for ten yuan to a copper gallstone worth a thousand.

He sells forest produce, builds up his savings, and puts up a new house, giving his grandmother a comfortable old age and lifting his childhood friend's family out of hunger and cold.

But the Lin family won't accept their downfall:

His father-in-law, the production-team leader, plots in secret to strike back. His two brothers-in-law team up with village thugs to set one deadly trap after another. His disgraced wife begs him to take her back, while the son of the commune's deputy secretary wants to crush him for good...

The mountains are riddled with traps, and hidden attacks abound in the village.

A hunter's knife, an enemy's blood, plots across the snowy wilderness, and the demons in people's hearts collide in this land of white mountains and black waters, composing a tale of

A revenge epic forged in the snow, and a rugged hunter's legend of providing for his family.
