Reborn in the Xing’an Mountains in 1983, with Seven Precious Daughters

In the winter of 2025, Zhao Xiaojun, a seventy-year-old man living alone on welfare, froze to death in a snowstorm in the Xing'an Mountains. His life was a blade of regret: obsessed with having a son, he neglected his wife and daughters after she gave birth to seven girls. He drove his wife away and broke his daughters’ hearts. In the end, his adopted nephew took all the family property, leaving him alone and helpless to die in the wilderness.

After getting drunk, he was reborn and returned to the winter of 1983! Before him lay his newborn seventh daughter. At his side, his sharp-tongued mother and third younger brother were arguing as they pressured him to adopt his nephew. Looking at his frail, despairing wife on the kang and the gaunt daughters huddled together like startled birds, Zhao Xiaojun finally saw the error of his ways, tears welling in his eyes!

This time, he would never repeat his mistakes!

He stood up to his biased mother, beat his treacherous younger brother, and drove out his ungrateful nephew! Taking up his woodcutter’s knife, he headed into the mountains. Starting with a hazel grouse and a roe deer, he quickly built up his fortune by drawing on the hunting skills he had acquired in his previous life. He used a slingshot to hunt squirrels and traps to catch wild boars, and even risked his life fighting a black bear with sheer ferocity! He sold his game for money and food, bought a hunting rifle, and became the village’s “guardian,” earning a fearsome reputation by driving off wolf packs.

He gave every penny he earned to his wife, bought new clothes and schoolbags for his daughters, and vowed to send them all to school. He asked a scholar to replace their rustic names with elegant ones, giving them dignity and grace. At last, the cold household was filled with the warmth of a cooking fire again, thanks to his remorse and hard work.

When faced with troublesome relatives, jealous hunters who tried to sabotage him, and village gossip, Zhao Xiaojun acted decisively and never forgot a kindness or a grudge.

This is a man’s road to redemption, a heartfelt love story that begins with marriage, and an epic tale of striving, forged with hunting rifles and sweat amid vast forests and snowy wilderness!
