Northeast China, 1977: A Reborn Veteran Becomes the Mountain King

[A battle-hardened veteran is reborn in 1977, carving a path through the Xing’an Mountains with a hunting knife!]

Cao Zhengjun spent his life fighting for his country, from the jungles of the southern frontier to the southeastern coast. In the end, he fell on a training ground in the body of a general. When he opened his eyes again, he had been reborn in the remote mountains of Northeast China in 1977, back in the body of the sixteen-year-old village boy he once was.

The regrets of his previous life were still painfully clear:

✓ His disabled friend Wang Erzhu, whom he had been unable to save

✓ His grandparents, whom he had never gotten the chance to care for

✓ The helpless choice that had forced him to leave home and join the army

In this life, he swears to change his fate! Armed with more than forty years of military experience and a hunter’s instincts, Cao Zhengjun resolutely chooses to stay in the mountains. No hunting rifle? He takes on a three-hundred-jin wild boar with nothing but a hunting knife! No hunting dogs? He tracks a vengeful brown bear through the snow and turns the tables on it!

In Mushroom Village on the eve of Reform and Opening Up:

✓ He uses tactical thinking to set traps and snares

✓ He fine-tunes homemade hunting rifles with a sniper’s precision

✓ He incorporates military camouflage into traditional mountain-hunting skills

✓ He helps the villagers break free of the commune’s constraints

The old hunters say he was born to hunt. The educated youth call him the reincarnation of the Mountain God. Only he knows the truth: this is a veteran’s deepest love for his home.

This is a tale of the era steeped in the scent of pine resin and gunpowder, about how a reborn veteran uses military wisdom to change the fate of a mountain village in Northeast China. Inside, you’ll find:

✓ Over 50 detailed Northeast China hunting techniques

✓ Mountain village transformations against a true historical backdrop
