The Underworld Ferryman

The Netherworld Ferryman tells the story of Lin Wan, descendant of the Tombstone Keepers, and her companions: Lu Zhao, a ferryman, and A Man, a Gu sorceress. Together, they embark on a perilous journey to stop the Yin Emperor, the lingering soul of Lu Yuanshan, from using the spiritual leyline’s core to resurrect himself. The leyline’s rupture throws the balance between yin and yang into chaos, while the emergence of Entropy Technology’s Immortality Project brings multiple factions together, including the Snowfield Soul Hunters, the Heavenly Consort Hall, and the Lushan Sect. They uncover the truth: Lu Yuanshan caused the disaster by experimenting to resurrect his dead wife. The protagonists unite the light of human kindness into a shield, using leyline antibodies and butterflies of goodwill to fight the cyber ghost horde and experimental subjects. In the end, they destroy the core and purify the lingering soul. The leyline is restored, and the Tombstone Keepers’ lineage is passed down. With their own flesh and blood, Lin Wan and the others embody the principle that guarding the tombstone means guarding the heart: human kindness is the one true eternal monument that can soothe the souls of the dead.
