The Ghost Market Mystery at Xi’an Bell Tower

The Strange Tales of the Ghost Market at Xi'an Bell Tower centers on the mysterious ghost market that appears at midnight on the Qixi Festival beneath Xi'an's Bell Tower, weaving a supernatural adventure about protecting the city's memories. Legend has it that every Qixi, the blue bricks along the Bell Tower's circular passage split open, revealing a ghost market visible only to the living who harbor an obsession. It is guarded by those bound by their obsessions, who served the Tang dynasty's Chang'an Memory Bureau and preserve the memories of ordinary people in Chang'an. Anyone who breaks the rules is devoured. When Shen Yan, a tourism editor, loses his friend Lin Xiaoman after she wanders into the ghost market, he joins forces with Gu Zhaozhao, a graduate student of folklore, to investigate. Together they uncover the villainous Hall of Eroded Memories' plot to refine a Forgetting River Pill and erase Xi'an's cultural heritage. Alongside Chen Bo, a guardian of the market, they gather the Memory Jade and awaken those ensnared by their obsessions. Amid supernatural horrors and tender moments, they protect a thousand years of heritage and ultimately transform the ghost market from a devourer into a refuge for memories.
