The Ninefold Secret Casket

The Secret Casket of the Nine Sovereigns follows the adventures of Lu Yan, a restorer of ancient books. Ten years after his grandfather disappeared, Lu Yan discovers a bronze casket in the old family home. The casket, engraved with a strange "Spirit-Sealing Pattern," turns out to be the key to locating the ancient "Nine Sovereign Cauldrons." Legend says the nine cauldrons are hidden in nine "Spirit-Sealing Ruins." They seal evil beings called "Spirit-Eaters," who feed on memories, and have also attracted the "Spirit-Eater Cult," which covets their power.

Together with Shen Qing, a former special forces soldier, Lu Yan journeys from a nest of sound-using gu worms in Kunlun's Ghost Ruins to merfolk with human faces aboard a sunken ship in Xisha, before venturing into an ice cave in Changbai Mountain. Step by step, they uncover the truth about Lu Yan's grandfather, a "Cauldron Seeker," and the family's destiny as "Spirit Guardians." A shadow inside the casket, the pursuit by Spirit-Eater servants, and the mysteries surrounding Shen's father's last words lead the two to piece together the truth amid life-and-death struggles: the so-called "awakening of the Nine Cauldrons" is a con by the Spirit-Eater Cult, and the bronze casket is the final lock sealing the Spirit-Eaters away.
