Feng Shui Master Zeng Hebin

Young Zeng Hebin, a collateral descendant of the Zeng clan in Sanliao Village, carries half of his family’s ancestral Essentials of the Green Satchel and a broken compass. Clan elder Zeng Wanshan scolds him: “What does a greenhorn like you know about feng shui?” But when a road rushes straight at the Zhang family home, causing a baleful influence that gives a child a high fever, Zeng Hebin erects a Stone Sentinel and brings the fever down within half a day. When water seeps into the Li family grave and disrupts its feng shui, he digs up an iron nail stamped with the character “Wan” and exposes Zeng Wanshan’s dirty trick on the spot. His first face-slapping victory leaves the whole clan speechless.

The Shen clan digs a canal to steal water and buries a centipede effigy as a curse. Zeng Wanshan stirs up trouble and demands that Zeng Hebin be bound and made to pay for it. But Zeng Hebin declares, “The Shen village will be flooded within three days.” When torrential rain pours down, water from the Po Jun Canal surges back into the Shen clan’s fertile fields. Shen Laosan falls to his knees, and Zeng Hebin wins again! Before he can catch his breath, Eunuch Wang suddenly arrives with an imperial edict: “His Majesty summons you to the capital to select a site for Emperor Daizong’s mausoleum!”

Liu Song, deputy director of the Imperial Astronomy Bureau in the capital, has already laid a trap. Fake dragon-vein maps and cursed peachwood effigies come one after another, but Zeng Hebin exposes them all with test pits, white clay, and cinnabar talisman formations. He is even appointed a Doctor of the Imperial Astronomy Bureau. Just as he is overseeing the renovation of the Qing Mausoleum, Liao Qing suddenly hands him a piece of bronze: “This is a compass fragment that can determine the dragon veins of the realm. My sister was kidnapped because of it!”

Late at night, Zeng Hebin reaches the foot of a nine-tailed Chinese cedar and digs up a bronze ant marked with the insignia of the previous dynasty. Is the Shen clan the only one Zeng Wanshan has colluded with? The remnants of the previous dynasty have their sights on Sanliao’s dragon veins, Liu Song has powerful in-laws backing him, and the mausoleum site selection is really a deadly trap! What will Zeng Hebin do?
