Feng Shui Master Zeng Congzheng

[The feng shui content starts in Chapter 33. You can skip the earlier chapters.] Young Zeng Congzheng goes into the mountains to gather herbs and unexpectedly finds a fragment of The Green Satchel Classic, left behind by the geomancy master Yang Junsong. It reveals his talent: he identifies a dry well, dispels evil spirits, and repeatedly defeats fake feng shui masters in his village. In the feng shui feud between the Zeng and Shen clans, he drives off his enemies with a bamboo staff and protects his clan by building a sand embankment, stunning Sanliao with his victory despite the odds. Later, summoned to the capital, he determines the realm’s fate at court with his compass, persuading everyone to select an auspicious dragon site for the Ming Tombs. He foils Wang Ni’s sinister curse-talisman plot and is appointed a Doctor of the Imperial Astronomy Bureau by the Yongle Emperor. He designs the Forbidden City’s “ancestral temple on the left, altar of soil and grain on the right” layout and the Temple of Heaven’s “south-facing axis,” becoming a great imperial geomancer. When he leaves the capital to help the people, he drives vengeful spirits from a government office, taps a spring with his bamboo staff to end a three-year drought, and breaks a Five Ghosts Carry Wealth formation set by salt merchants in Fujian, saving the people from disaster. But as bronze fragments continue to surface, the deeper meaning of the “south-facing axis” gradually comes to light. Warnings of strange movements in the Temple of Heaven’s dragon vein and the writing on the last page of The Green Satchel Classic, “When the dragon vein stirs, the Temple of Heaven must be repaired,” reveal an even greater mystery. When Zeng Congzheng ascends to immortality, what choices will his successors face when the prophecy pieced together from the bronze fragments, “The Ming dynasty will fall when its dragon vein is severed,” comes to pass?
