My Otherworldly Conjuring: A Record of Mutations

Gui Xiyu, a minor male-role performer in Gui opera, was performing The Jade Bangle at the height of its drama when the audience below suddenly froze like puppets, and the stage warped into a vortex.

She fell into another world, the Starvault Realm, where watching a play was like smoking spiritual opium, and the powerful prolonged their lives by consuming the spiritual essence of art.

Gui Xiyu’s Gui opera vocals could tear through space. A casual sweep of her sleeves could split it open, while a flirtatious glance could trap an enemy in an illusion of doomed love.

When she tried to perform the complete Legend of the White Snake, the demon king’s guards were awakened by the lyrics to their ancient bloodlines, and turned around to kill their master.

Hunted by the authorities, Gui Xiyu discovered that every art in this world was bound by “law,” and that her own mastery of performance made her an anomaly.

“Art is poison?” She tore up the wanted notice and sneered. “No, you’re the ones who are sick.”

Watch as a lowly opera performer wields her water sleeves like blades and sings through this deathly silent night.
