Wasteland Gardener: I Turn Land into a City and Grow Flowers and Raise Birds

Zheng Qiu'en breathed his last in the death-row cell, only to open his eyes on a desolate magical wasteland.

The remnants of the prison contract inside him had turned into the power of a law: “Draw a boundary, and it becomes a city.” He casually marked off a patch of scorched earth, and tender shoots sprang up among the bones.

While others fought over fragments of divine artifacts in the ruins, he planted glowing moonlight moss at the foot of his city walls.

While legions slaughtered one another for magical crystal deposits, the first rainbow finch he had tamed returned with seeds from another world.

The church branded him a blasphemer: “That garden is a breeding ground for demons!”

The mage tower mocked him for wasting his time on toys: “You think raising birds can stop the undead horde?”

Then the undead army descended. He gently brushed the vines on the city wall. “Rise.”

In an instant, towering trees became a barrier, carnivorous flowers devoured skeletal cavalry, and a storm of birds blotted out the spell-light of the necromancers.

When the smoke cleared, flowers bloomed throughout his garden city. The rainbow finch on his shoulder gave a clear chirp, and the wasteland's first gentle rain began to fall.
