The Occult Master's Modern Roommate Diary

Shen Qingci, the youngest guardian mage of the Great Yong Dynasty, suffers a spiritual injury in a duel with a thousand-year-old fox demon. When she opens her eyes, she has become a university student in the twenty-first century with the same name. Even more absurdly, she is lying in a VIP hospital room, surrounded by five pretty girls with tear-reddened eyes. Supposedly, they're her “best friends,” and they're also A University's unanimously recognized campus beauty squad.

“Qingqing, you're finally awake! You scared Mom to death... I mean, you scared us to death!” A girl with pink hair rushes over, and the silver bangle on her wrist suddenly lets out a shrill cry. Shen Qingci raises an eyebrow. Why is this girl tangled up in three strands of resentment?

“Don't move her. The doctor said she needs to rest.” The cool beauty in gold-rimmed glasses holds her friend back, but the jade pendant at her neck glows green as she speaks. Hm? It's a piece of ritual material that hasn't even been consecrated.

When an occult grandmaster meets five modern best friends, each with their own “strange phenomena,” their shared living arrangements go completely off the rails. Shen Qingci uses cinnabar to draw ghost-repelling talismans for a livestreaming influencer, teaches an esports girl to dodge with spiritual energy, and then turns around to help a superfan break the “bad luck formation” around her idol.

“Do you know that scrolling on your phone before bed can drain your yang energy?” Shen Qingci taps her compass as she watches five night-owl champions yawn in unison.

“Th-then, Qingqing, could you draw us talismans to help us stop using our phones?”

When a thousand years of magic collide with the absurdities of twenty-first-century life, evil spirits lurking beneath the city begin to stir. No one could have guessed that the ones who would save the world would be this group of campus beauties who spend all day arguing over takeout.
