Underground Courier in the North China Base Area

In 1942, in North China, villager Chen Fan serves as an underground courier. Using “visiting relatives” as his cover, he delivers medicine to the revolutionary base and passes along news of Japanese “sweeping operations.” While carrying medicine on one trip, he runs into a Japanese patrol. He hides the supplies in a compartment of his wood cart and helps a wounded courier evade the search. When the Japanese launch a major sweep, Chen Fan leads the people of the base into underground caves and uses tunnel warfare to buy time until the Eighth Route Army arrives as reinforcements.
