A Spy Among Shanghai's Concession-Era Schoolgirls

In 1941, in the Shanghai International Settlement, student Lin Weiran joins the Military Statistics Bureau after the Japanese army kills her father. Disguised as a typist, she goes undercover at the Japanese army’s Mei Agency. She steals intelligence about a planned Japanese attack on the settlement, only to discover that her contact is a Japanese spy. At the critical moment, underground Communist Gu Yan comes to her rescue. Lin Weiran sees the Military Statistics Bureau for what it is: an organization that fights the Communists but not the Japanese. She defects to the underground Party and gets the intelligence out before the settlement falls, helping the guerrillas evacuate.
