Deep-Dive Files of a Relic Archivist

In the golden age of the Interstellar Federation, technological advances have made it possible to digitize human consciousness, allowing memories to be stored, retrieved, and even traded. But when someone dies, their unprocessed consciousness data becomes a dangerous “information ghost,” polluting the sea of data.

“Relic archivists,” a unique profession on the fringes of society, emerge to deal with the problem. They dive into the fragments of the deceased’s consciousness, organize and format their broken memories, and erase them from existence.

Gu Chuan is the most unremarkable relic archivist at New Florence Starport. Every day, he handles the joys and sorrows, loves and hates of the dead. Quiet and reclusive, he seems like an ordinary man simply earning a living with his craft. No one knows he is the last surviving legend of the golden age of deep-diving technology: a “consciousness diver” who should have vanished completely in the Black Tide Incident ten years ago.

He had meant to bury his past for good, until a mysterious client brought him an unusual relic: a music box belonging to a Federation hero. When Gu Chuan dives inside, he finds no glorious memories of a hero, but a dark abyss deliberately concealed, one capable of overturning the entire Federation.

A cold-blooded assassin, powerful megacorporations, the shadow of the Federal Security Bureau… Every faction is stirred into action. Gu Chuan’s peaceful life is shattered. He knows there is no longer any way to stay out of it.

When memories can be rewritten and souls can be encoded, where does the line between truth and illusion lie? This time, he must do more than sort through the relics of the dead. Amid a sea of stars built on lies, he must recover the truth that was buried.
