The Red Rose of the Textile Mill in the 1980s

Set against the social changes of the 1980s, the story centers on “women’s awakening and the struggle against family oppression.” The heroine, He Yicha, is a skilled technician at a textile mill. Her outstanding craftsmanship wins her first place in a provincial competition, but it also sparks conflict at home. Her husband, Su Yuntao, is bound by traditional ideas and resents his wife for “showing herself in public.” Their marriage teeters on the brink of collapse. Meanwhile, Su Yuntao’s sister-in-law, Yan Cuilin, covets the family’s allowances and housing. She conspires with outsiders to frame He Yicha, hoping to drive her out of the home.

Under the dual pressures of work and family, He Yicha goes from enduring and compromising to fighting back decisively. She gathers evidence of Yan Cuilin’s forged documents, bribery, and attempts to frame her, then proves her innocence with the support of factory director Nan Ci and reporter Ouyang Xinhai. Faced with Su Yuntao’s lack of understanding and betrayal, she resolutely asks for a divorce and fights for custody of their child. Fate gives her the chance to be reborn, sending her back to the year before the tragedy. Armed with knowledge of the future, He Yicha plans ahead, protects her child, and builds her career. In the end, she breaks free of her family’s chains and becomes an independent, self-reliant woman of the new era, while Su Yuntao, Yan Cuilin, and the others pay the price they deserve.
