Legends of Dongbai

In the Northern Frontier’s Frozen Abyss, a blizzard unseen for three hundred years swallowed the world. Iron-armored cavalry crushed dried bones beneath their hooves, government granaries locked away the last chance of survival, and the wails of starving people forced to eat their own children pierced the storm. Yet all this was only part of a greater conspiracy: a star core fell from the sky and tore open the earth’s veins, a corpse plague spread, gray-robed emissaries made medicine from human beings, and the powerful hoped to seize immortality amid the calamity! A lone peak, sheer cliffs, a tattered banner that would not fall On the thousand-zhang ice cliffs of the Dragon-Burial Abyss, a charred, tattered wolf banner flew defiantly against the wind! Gathered here were the “dregs” the world had cast aside: • Chai Hu, master of the Exile-Slaying Saber: a condemned soldier from the frontier, he cleaved open the government granary and buried grain in frozen earth to save the people; • Sister Biao, the one-armed banner-bearer: daughter of a slave from the Dragon-Burial Mine, with a broken star-core horn embedded in her left shoulder; her blood heals wounds, and her bones forge blades; • Brother Snake, Yu Changsheng, the phosphorus-flame guide of souls: he sets dry bones alight with green fire, and sand hidden in his seven apertures illuminates the road to the Yellow Springs; • Fan Xiaoqin, the Pure-Eyed Saintess: the mark between her brows purifies the corpse plague; she burns her life like a candle to incinerate the deepest hell! They call themselves the Heavenly Wolf Stronghold. They are the last backbone of this world that devours its people!
