General Liang Muchu’s Rise to Power

Liang Muchu spent ten years disguised as a man, joining the army in her father's place and earning outstanding military honors.

After the war was over, afraid her disguise would be exposed, Liang Muchu had no choice but to fake her death. She resumed her true identity as a woman and returned to the capital, hoping to reunite with her family.

But who could have guessed that her family, afraid she would bring them trouble, had already raised a new daughter?

Her father said, “You disguised yourself as a man to serve in the army. That is a crime of deceiving the emperor. If the truth comes out, it will get the whole family killed.”

Her mother said, “As the eldest daughter, you must endure what you have to. That is your fate.” Her younger brother said, “All these years, your new older sister has stayed by our parents’ side and cared for them. You should be grateful.”

After ten years on the battlefield, Liang Muchu was weathered and worn. All she longed for was the warmth of a family.

The emperor repaid her family with all the imperial favor Liang Muchu herself had never received:

Her father was made a first-rank duke, and her mother was granted the title of first-rank Lady of Honor.

Her adopted sister was betrothed to the crown prince, and her younger brother became a celebrated god of war.

Meanwhile, Liang Muchu could not even show her face, or she would be branded a criminal who had doomed the entire family.

Even though Liang Muchu neither fought nor competed for favor, her adopted sister returned from a banquet in tears, utterly distraught.

“Mother, Prince Ning came back from the border and said I don’t look anything like my brother. I’m scared. What if Prince Ning sees older sister…”

Her mother turned deathly pale with fear.

One day, her mother broke with her usual coldness and tenderly offered Liang Muchu a cup of wine to celebrate her birthday. Moved, Liang Muchu drank it in one gulp.

When she woke, poison had silenced her voice, all ten of her fingers had been broken, and her martial arts had been crippled.

They had gone to such lengths to steal Liang Muchu’s military honors, all to pave the way for their adopted daughter.

The glory Liang Muchu had risked her life to win had become a death sentence!

When she opened her eyes again, Liang Muchu had been reborn on the first day she returned to the capital after faking her death.
