Journey to the West: Escorting the Ancestral Dragon, I Meet the Stone Monkey and We Become Bodhi's Disciples

Jiang Fan transmigrates to the end of the Warring States period. With a proficiency panel, he reaches the peak of swordsmanship in the mortal realm in just three years. Seeking a secure future, he travels to Handan to protect the hostage Ying Zheng on his way back to Qin, successfully betting on the future First Emperor. But just as he retires after accomplishing his mission, he encounters a golden-furred monkey on the streets of Xianyang.

The moment the monkey sees him, it excitedly bows and says, "Old immortal! Your disciple is ready to begin!"

Jiang Fan freezes. Isn't this the Warring States period? How can there be a Journey to the West storyline too?

He acts decisively, crossing the Western Sea with Sun Wukong to seek out an immortal mountain, where they both become disciples of Patriarch Bodhi. From then on, a new disciple, Daoist Wufan, joins them at Three Star Cave, becoming a fellow apprentice of the future Great Sage Equal to Heaven.

As Patriarch Bodhi's lectures fill the air with wondrous blossoms, Sun Wukong's immortal body remains unable to make progress with the Yellow Court Scripture. Jiang Fan, however, draws qi into his body on the very first day, cultivates magical power in three months, and breaks through to the Qi Refining and Spirit Transformation stage in six. As he watches his monkey brother scratch his head, unable to find a path to cultivation, Jiang Fan quietly uses his proficiency panel to raise his cultivation by leaps and bounds, secretly plotting to change fate.

But Jiang Fan knows that this monkey will one day wreak havoc in Heaven, be imprisoned beneath Five Elements Mountain, and set out on the journey westward that has already been laid out for him.
