The Chongzuo Watcher

The white-headed langur is a black monkey with a little cap of white fur on its head. It can nimbly navigate steep cliffs. These karst spirits are a nationally protected first-class wild animal and a primate species unique to China.

In the 1980s and 1990s, driven by poverty, villagers had no choice but to keep clearing land for crops and going into the mountains to cut firewood. This shrank the langurs' habitat. On top of that, rampant illegal hunting caused the population of white-headed langurs in Chongzuo to plummet, bringing them to the brink of extinction. Protecting them could not wait.

Humanity cannot walk alone beneath the heavens. We must live alongside all living things, growing old together and staying by each other's side.
