The Chongzuo Watcher

The white-headed langur is a black-furred monkey with a little cap of white fur on its head. It can nimbly make its way across steep cliffs. These karst spirits are a nationally protected first-class wild animal and a primate species unique to China.

In the 1980s and 1990s, poverty forced villagers to keep clearing land for crops and going up the mountains to gather firewood, shrinking the monkeys' habitat. Coupled with the wanton hunting by criminals, the white-headed langur population in Chongzuo plummeted and was once on the brink of extinction. Protecting the white-headed langurs cannot wait.

Humans cannot walk alone beneath heaven and earth. We must live alongside all living things. May we grow old together and stay by each other's side forever.
