Flying Fox Side Story: Wild Goose No Return

Outside Yanmen Pass, it has not snowed for thirty years. There are rumors in the world that the flying fox sword technique has long been extinct, and the last generation of flying foxes died in Yanmen Pass, with no bones left. But every ten years, someone outside the pass would die from the same attack - the knife was inserted from behind, leaving no wounds on the chest. A fox's footprints were left on the dry loess, as clear as if they had just been painted on. Young detective Shen Gui is ordered to track down the tenth corpse. The deceased is actually his brother Shen Xing who has been separated for three years. The only clue is a blind old beggar who calls himself "The Descendant of the Flying Fox" and a long black sheath knife. The old beggar said: "Flying Fox is not a person, but a knife. The knife does not recognize its owner, only its debt." Shen Gui drew his sword. The blade was densely engraved with names, and the bottom line was his own name. Only then did he understand that his brother's death was not a vendetta, but a debt due to the sword; he was not here to solve the case, but was chosen by the sword to repay the debt. There is no one returning outside Yanmen Pass, only the flying fox and its fate that will never be repaid. Shen Gui clenched the knife and finally understood what his brother meant when he said "when you reach Yanmen Pass, don't look back" three years ago - if he turned around, he wouldn't be able to leave.
