The Eighteen Arhats: A Dusty Road to Subdue Demons

For ten thousand years, Lingshan was serene. Then, in a single day, a demonic rift split the sky. An ancient seal collapsed, and demonic energy surged across the lands of Jiuzhou, corrupting the hearts of mortals. Wild creatures turned into fiends, and ordinary people succumbed to greed and hatred, becoming demons. Cities fell silent, villages went up in smoke, and the mortal world teetered on the brink of becoming a hellish slaughterhouse. To save all living beings from ruin, Lingshan issued a decree. The Eighteen Arhats shed a thousand years of meditative stillness and descended together into the mortal world, traversing a long road through the dust of the world, wielding compassion as their blade as they set out to subdue demons and save the world. Everyone knows that the Arhats' golden bodies are imperishable and their divine powers boundless. But no one knows that they all came from the mortal world. One was once a battlefield general, his life stained with blood. Another was a mountain hunter who came to regret taking lives. One had been a crown prince deep within the palace, but saw through the hollowness of royal power. Others had been village doctors, children of fishermen, or reclusive cultivators. Eighteen golden bodies concealed eighteen dreams of their mortal pasts, and eighteen demons etched into their hearts. This journey was not only about slaying every monster and sealing the demonic rifts. It was also a spiritual trial of self-transcendence. They ventured into ancient ruins, broke through illusions, guided vengeful spirits to peace, and saw through the delusions of the human heart. Amid slaughter, they upheld compassion; in desperate straits, they proved their Zen resolve. Demons are easy to slay, but human hearts are hard to save. Great calamities are hard to quell. As all living beings sank into darkness, the Eighteen Venerables strode against the tide into the mortal world. With their Arhat golden bodies, they would quell the chaos. With a thousand years of Zen resolve, they would protect all living beings. The road through the mortal world is endless, the demonic calamity unceasing. The Buddhas will not retreat, and the Arhats will not return!
