Border

The novel "Border Pass" is based on the Gaoligong Mountains, Nujiang River and Dulong River Basin in the southwest border. It has three volumes and ninety-nine chapters, unfolding the border changes in half a century and the inheritance of border defense of three generations. The whole book is divided into three volumes: "Erecting the Stele", "Keeping the Stele" and "Passing the Stele", which correspond to three mountains, three rivers and three generations of border guards. A boundary monument engraved with the word "China" is used as a silent narrator to witness the changes of time and the persistence of mountains and rivers through the eternal perspective of mountains and rocks. The novel advances the narrative in two parallel lines: three generations of border guards of the Shen family continue their missions and pass on the legacy from generation to generation. In 1960, the first-generation Shen Tieshan carried heavy burdens to expand the border and climbed to the top to erect the No. 1 Boundary monument of the Republic; the second-generation Shen Yan stationed at the port, balancing openness and control amid the prosperity of border trade and undercurrent risks, and guarding the border and the bottom line of people's hearts; the third-generation Ji Yuanshan returned to the mountains with modern intelligent border guarding technology. In the collision of technology and traditional border patrol experience, he realized the irreplaceability of footwork, original intention and generational experience. The work combines the dialects of Western Yunnan and the vocabulary of ethnic minorities, and uses monologues on boundary monuments to connect time and space. It is supplemented by each chapter's "Notes on the Border" to form a polyphonic narrative, and builds a complete image system of fog, big green trees, three rivers, and the curved hooks of monument marks. All the clues in the book finally converge in front of the boundary monument No. 42. The monologue of the boundary monument is used to write down the topic, sublimating the persistence of ordinary people into the inheritance of the national spirit, condensing the profound family and country theme of "my name is the name of China", and creating a contemporary border epic with warmth, character and depth.
