My Rift Can Change Lives

Have you ever thought to yourself:

If I could go back to that day, I’d never make the same choice.

Shen Mo has. More than once.

Three months ago, his father urgently needed an operation, and Shen Mo was ten thousand yuan short. He borrowed from loan sharks. The debt ballooned to three hundred thousand, and the collectors called his daughter’s school. That night, he drove out to beg them for mercy. Then a phone call came in. He lost control and hit someone.

The person lay in a pool of blood, staring up at him.

Shen Mo fell to his knees and screamed, “I wish this were all a dream!”

Then he woke up.

It was three in the morning. The date on his phone showed three months earlier.

His father hadn’t had the operation yet. There was no one on the crosswalk. There was still time to change everything.

He thought he’d just had a vivid nightmare.

Until he discovered that the debt collectors’ number from the dream was exactly the same as in real life. The threatening text from the dream arrived word for word. And the person from the dream was walking down the street, alive and well.

It wasn’t a dream.

It was a crack.

A crack is a wound in the fabric of reality. When life corners you and you scream with all your might, “I wish this weren’t real,” time splits open and lets you go back and choose again.

Shen Mo thought heaven had given him a second chance.

He didn’t know that every new choice left behind an “abandoned self” on the other side of the crack. Those selves were watching him in the mirror, waiting for him. And there were more and more of them.

They wanted to come through.

He wanted to get out.

But what lies on the other side of the crack?...

This is a story about the regrets that refuse to fade. For everyone who has ever lain awake at night wishing they could take something back.
