Kirigakure Price

This story begins with a commission. One man wants me to prove that another man is selling off the traditions he protects. I thought I was investigating the truth about prices. But it turned out that there is no truth about prices—only stories. And all stories are stories of power. All powers ultimately ask us the same question: "How much are you willing to pay for your illusion?" When I started writing these words, clouds were floating outside the window in the direction of Kirigakure Mountain. Three years later, the sweetness of that cup of tea has long since dissipated, but the astringent taste remains at the base of the tongue.
