[An Examination of the Origin of Nine Craftsmen]: The theory of earth veins began in the Three Dynasties, was developed in the Han and Tang Dynasties, and flourished in the Song and Ming Dynasties. The Nine Craftsmen were not established in one moment, but were nine major professional categories that were naturally formed through thousands of years of earth-line practice. According to the fragmentary volume of "Secret Book of Pulses and Regulations": "Heaven and earth have pulses, just like people have meridians. Only by treating the nine arts together can we achieve peace and tranquility." Each of the nine craftsmen holds a unique skill and passes it down from generation to generation. They use blood as a contract and artifacts as evidence to jointly maintain the balance of the earth and veins.
