Gray's Detective Notes

Come to China Literature's website to read more of my works! My name is Edgar Gray and I am a detective. If you are expecting a glamorous and heroic confession, I am afraid you will be disappointed. My life does not consist of applause and medals, but of countless rain-soaked nights, rooms filled with lies, and tiny clues forgotten in corners. I chose to become a detective, not to chase thrills or to act as the embodiment of justice, but because I couldn't turn a blind eye to chaos. When people use silence to cover up the truth and use emotions instead of thinking, I am willing to be the person who stands in the shadows and puts the pieces together bit by bit. Some people say I am too calm, even a little cold. Maybe. But you have to know that in this profession, emotion is a luxury, and doubt is the most reliable partner. I learned not to believe easily and not to deny easily. Every word, every action, every seemingly insignificant detail may be the key to the truth. I have seen the darkness of human nature, and I have also seen the glory of human nature. I know that evil does not always look hideous, it sometimes wears a decent coat; I also know that justice does not always appear in a big way, it is often hidden in inconspicuous persistence. I'm not perfect. I get tired, I hesitate, I make mistakes. But I never stopped pursuing the truth. Because among all the chaos and lies, the truth is the only thing that cannot be distorted, and it is the only force that can make people truly free. This is me, Edgar Grey.
