Between Dream and Soul [Wei Shanhu X Yu Xingyi]

[Guaranteed to be completed, but updates are truly unpredictable]

This isn't a sweet romance. My dream as a fanfic writer is to write a heart-wrenching tragedy that hurts everyone.

Blurb:

When the eighteen-year-old Yu Xingyi woke up one morning, he found himself in the body of his twenty-eight-year-old self, married to the girl he'd loved most when he was sixteen.

Sounds pretty good.

Aside from the fact that the girl he loved kept trying to kill him, Yu Xingyi was quite satisfied with his situation.

·

Wei Shanhou couldn't understand why the person who had told her he loved her when they were young had eventually grown farther and farther away.

Which of them had changed?

Beneath the banana trees where they had once run hand in hand, she knelt and asked the question with all her heart.

And so Yu Xingyi's memories returned to the year he loved her most.

#A love story steeped in hatred, lovers at odds, beloved strangers#

Written in a fanfic style, so the melodrama and affected prose may be a bit much.

I've added a system of female officials to the original work's class structure. Don't get hung up on whether it makes sense. The writer's word is law.

Please don't offer unsolicited writing advice. If you can do better, write it yourself.

Note: This probably isn't a happy ending.

To avoid getting flamed or called out, here's a note: I left the fandom after episode 11 of "Immortal Maiden's Mad Ramblings," when Sui Feng Qi left. I couldn't find my old Wei-Yu fanfic after changing computers, so I'm rewriting it.

The original story was about Yu Xingyi regretting things after Wei Shanhou died, then being reborn on the day she confessed to him and making a different choice. But in the end, the two still couldn't be together. (In the author's opinion, the Tutor and Niuniu shared the same path but went in different directions. Their ideals and ambitions were fundamentally different.)

This story is a further spin-off based on that premise.

Finally: I'm an unshakable BG shipper. I don't ship Wang-Xiang as either a couple or a platonic pairing.
