A Cannon-Fodder Actor, but a Hell-Level Boss

Mu Huai is the perennial cannon-fodder actor at a horror film studio. He has a gorgeous face, but at best, his acting is mediocre. His roles are usually either corpses or utterly forgettable villains A, B, and C. His life ambles along, bland and uneventful.

Then one day, he accidentally opens his boyfriend's phone and spots a mysterious forum. The top posts are all about characters he's played.

The Red-Robed Ghost King, standing above the city skyline, blood-red lips curling beneath a half-hidden ghost mask, chains dragging a dozen shriveled bodies behind him: bewitching and terrifying.

The Mountain God of Human Skin, lurking in a dark swamp, slithering out like a snake as the mountains crumble and all life is laid waste.

The Lord of the Nether Sea, dwelling in a sunken city, silently using his scepter to seal countless lives forever at the bottom of the deep sea.

Below the posts, players are wailing in desperation:

[Report! We hit the Red-Robed Ghost King's ten-party wipe achievement! Somebody help us figure out how to beat this! I can't keep barely surviving much longer!]

[Can anyone talk about the Mountain God dungeon? It's so gloomy. I died before I even saw the boss's face.]

[The Nether Sea dungeon! I...! I made it all the way to the priest position by playing it safe, and then suddenly got taken out with a "snap"! (smile.jpg)]

[The four bosses of the hell dungeons: the Red-Robed Ghost King, the Mountain God of Human Skin, the Lord of the Nether Sea, and the master of the "Supreme Nation": Mu Huai!!!]

Mu Huai had assumed the "fans" were role-playing in the comments, so he'd cheerfully started scrolling through the posts. Now he just stared in silence.

Then he saw the next post, pinned in red:

[Frontline update! Top player Shen Yan has locked onto the target! The true form coordinates of "Master of the Supreme Nation, Mu Huai" have been confirmed! The beheading operation begins within 72 hours! This is our one shot at a first clear of an SSS-rank hell dungeon!!!]

Mu Huai slowly looked up.

The bathroom door opened, and his boyfriend came out, fresh from his bath, surrounded by misty steam.

Mu Huai slapped his phone onto the bed, went over, and kissed him again and again.

Top Player Shen Yan, who had been dating him for just half a month, was kissed dizzy by his clingy lover. He completely forgot about the "nineteenth" assassination plan he'd been considering.

It was now the couple's sixteenth day together.

Mu Huai was trying to figure out how to tell his boyfriend that he was only acting and had no idea who the Red-Robed Ghost King or the Mountain God were... Wait, no. They had nothing to do with him! He knew nothing!

Meanwhile, Shen Yan was doing his best to hide that he was a player, while wondering whether he should leave the Supreme Nation's boss alone for now and deal with the other hell dungeons, like the Red-Robed Ghost King and the Mountain God.

Then, a week later...

At the new filming location prepared by the production crew, Mu Huai found a group of strangers, including his boyfriend.

Wearing a gleaming robe of golden feathers, holding a giant scythe, and trying to get into character with the script for [The Vengeful Ghost, Consumed by the Destruction of His Country]: ...?

The players across from him, trying to clear the [Feather-Robed God] dungeon: !!!

Shen Yan, at the front of the player group, caught off guard by the sight of his lover: ...

1. Both are sexually inexperienced. Bright, puppy-like but rather unhinged gravity-type boss top x calm, composed, incredibly strong first player bottom who's the best at putting up with people.
