If Falling Leaves Loved the Moon

If fallen leaves also love the moon, it must be because the moon has long been waiting for them to fall.

"He thought he was resisting, when in truth he had already fallen into the cage the other had carefully woven."

"When sober, he's an iceberg. When drunk, he's a cat who only recognizes its owner, and Gui Xi just happens to be very good at petting him the right way."

"You seemed to like bright colors more when you were a child." Gui Xi smiled as he straightened Yan Tong's scarf, his fingertips brushing the side of Yan Tong's neck as if by accident.

Yan Tong frowned. "Do we know each other?"

Gui Xi didn't answer. He merely lowered his head and whispered in Yan Tong's ear, "We do now."

He thought it was their first meeting, never realizing that someone had already been waiting for him for many years.

Yan Tong was cold to the bone: aloof, distant, and indifferent to everyone. Yet he had a face no one could look away from.

Gui Xi, meanwhile, was gentle and refined, a perfect gentleman. Anyone would take him for a considerate, dependable good man. Only Yan Tong knew how dangerous this seemingly gentle man was beneath the surface.

From the day they met, Gui Xi kept pressing closer: a "chance encounter" at a cafe, a "convenient detour" to Yan Tong's doorstep.

Yan Tong pushed him away with a cold expression, but Gui Xi only smiled and drew nearer. Then one day, Yan Tong realized he had long since grown used to Gui Xi's presence.

The dependence that came with drunkenness, morning embraces, making up after a cold war... Yan Tong kept saying he "hated" Gui Xi, yet time and again let him push his luck.

And Gui Xi waited patiently, waiting for the iceberg to melt completely in his arms.

Isn't love, after all, just a gentle hunt?
