At the demon bureau, Hu Zheng found no skinning or pill extraction, and they didn't force him back into his original form. Instead, they handed him a "Registration Form for Nonhuman City Residents" and a stack of practice exams.

"Fill out the form, study, and pass the exam to get your certificate." Hua Boye offered him his gold pen. "You can read, right?"

Hu Zheng flipped through the test. The first question already had him stumped:

After revealing your true form in front of a human, what is the correct thing to do?

A. Kill them and bury them.

B. Knock them out, then kill and bury them.

C. Erase their memory and pretend nothing happened.

D. Use magic to make them fall in love with you and have a sweet romance.

Hu Zheng had just checked D when Hua Boye drew a huge cross over it. "Wrong! You don't have a human-demon romance license, so you can't date a human."

Hu Zheng was devastated. He had come down the mountain to seduce people, but without a license, he wasn't allowed to seduce anyone.

To get certified and seduce people legally, Hu Zheng studied hard every day. But because his grades were outstanding and his looks were so square, he was selected for the demon bureau through a special exception and given a permanent position!
