Mist

Ruan Qingzhi never imagined that Chi Yan, her fiancé of many years, would personally drug her drink.

As her mind began to slip away, she fled into the penthouse suite on the top floor and tremblingly clutched the hem of the woman in front of her.

"Sister... Please save me."

Yu Ji lifted her chin, her voice cool and clear.

"Do you know who I am?"

Ruan Qingzhi rose onto her toes and kissed her.

When she woke the next morning and saw the face beside her on the pillow, Ruan Qingzhi froze completely.

Yu Ji.

A legend in the business world, and the "aloof, desireless" adoptive mother Chi Yan had spoken of.

Chi Yan's anxious knocking sounded from outside the door.

"Qingzhi! Are you in there? My mom said she saw you!"

At a family gathering, Ruan Qingzhi followed Chi Yan into the living room. The woman seated at the head of the table slowly raised her eyes.

Yu Ji set down her teacup, her gaze passing over Ruan Qingzhi's pale face.

"Long time no see."

Chi Yan introduced them eagerly.

"Qingzhi, this is my adoptive mother."

Looking at the faint smile at the corner of the woman's lips, Ruan Qingzhi finally understood.

From the moment they met, she had already been caught in her web.
