The Fake Heiress and Her Real Nemesis

Huo Ran is the fake heiress of the Prime Minister's household. Beautiful and skilled in music, chess, calligraphy, and painting, she has countless suitors in the capital, yet not one catches her eye.

She thought her life would simply go on this way, quiet and peaceful. When the real heiress returned, she would rent an estate outside the city, grow flowers, raise cranes, and spend the rest of her days in peace.

Then Song Jiayu came back.

Song Jiayu is the real heiress. She grew up far from home and endured plenty of hardship, but she has a face beautiful enough to astonish the world.

The day she returned, she smiled and called out, "Sister," her voice bright and sweet.

Huo Ran thought there was something strange about those eyes.

They were too bright. Too bright for someone who had suffered.

Sure enough, every day after that, Song Jiayu seemed to go out of her way to oppose her: stealing her tea, cutting her off, and sabotaging her plans. She was a regular little menace.

But whenever someone bullied Huo Ran, Song Jiayu was the first to rush to her defense.

She wasn't pretending. She was genuinely anxious, genuinely angry, and genuinely red-eyed.

Huo Ran couldn't make sense of it. "What do you want from me?"

Song Jiayu smiled. "What could I possibly want, Sister?"

It began with a first meeting and ended with understanding.
